Between December 18 and 20, 2020, the first Lixing Cup Nanjing University global alumni innovation and entrepreneurship finals and award ceremony was held successfully. It is of our great honor to have invited Wang Hua, member of the Standing Committee of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, Hong Lilai, deputy secretary of Gulou District Party Committee and acting chief executive of the District, Zou Yajun, vice president and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Nanjing University, and Zhao Zhiqiang, director of Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center to attend the ceremony. So have more than 200 people participated including heads of concerned schools and departments of Nanjing University, heads of concerned departments of Nanjing City and Gulou District and heads of venture capital investment inside and outside China, mentors, representatives of alumni.
On behalf of Nanjing University, Zou Yajun extended the warmest congratulations to all the award-winning alumni and teams and stressed on the significance of innovation and entrepreneurship with a brief review of what Nanjing University had done and achieved regarding innovation inspiration and entrepreneurship nurture, hoping that an interactive and integrated platform for alumni, universities and parties of non-governmental force could be founded through the continual host of Nanjing University global alumni innovation and entrepreneurship competition. More expectations for alumni have also been made that Nanjing University alumni could realize their own dreams with the right opportunity of such a platform so as to make contributions to upscale achievement of innovation and entrepreneurship programs of alma mater.
Hong Lilai hoped that all alumni contestants could lay solid foundation through the contest and brace for another era with Gulou District. To be specific, first, sparkle for science and technology could be kindled, and outcome of all alumni could be widely applied; second, confidence in the investment needs to be enhanced, and the collective group of alumni enterprises should be forged; third, more efforts must be made to expand the influence of innovation and entrepreneurship power of Gulou District beyond alumni. At Gulou District, we would be as true as before to provide boarder platforms for all the alumni of Nanjing University for the purpose of innovation, entrepreneurship, prosperity and creation with the deepest enthusiasm and the most favorable policies.

The competition is sponsored by Nanjing University and supported by the People's Government of Gulou District, Nanjing, aimed at providing a platform of performance, communication and financing for alumni and both teachers and students with innovative spirit and entrepreneurial ability. Officially initiated in this June, the competition covers 10 countries or regions across the world in the past 6 months during which a total of 543 premium projects proposed by alumni at home and abroad were received, ranging from information technology, biological medicine, energy and environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing, new materials to cultural creativity, etc. The wide scope of all these industries has embodied interactive innovation of inter-discipline and shown the passion and vitality of entrepreneurs. Through the preliminary contests in 7 regions including Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai, North China, Fujian, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao and foreign countries, 116 projects were shortlisted for the global finals. As the competition runs on, it has come to take effect in the areas of serving alumni, the university and society, for the cumulative valuation has reached 48.6 billion yuan and the investment and financing fund has breached 2.7 billion yuan with a total of 250 thousand positions created in new enterprises half of which are new high-tech ones.
The finals include the defense of roadshow by group, Top 10 matches and the champion fight. Through the strict appraisal by judges and the open scoring on spot, the winning projects were ranked in global alumni innovation and entrepreneurship finals. Amon them, the one for the first prize will be directly enrolled to high-level entrepreneurial talent introduction project of Gulou District while the ones for the second and third will enter the comprehensive review round of the project. That is to say, the on-board HUD team probing into disruptive human-machine interaction way won the champion in finals, whereas the R&D team into 3D imaging sensor chips and algorithms was the runner-up followed by the R&D team of targeted antitumor drug ranked in the third place. Besides, excellent organization awardees are Nanjing University Alumni Associations in Beijing, Fujian, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Suzhou, Shenzhen Research Institute of Nanjing University, Nanjing University Technology Achievement Transformation Center in Fujian and Sino-Germany Science and Technology Innovation Center.

At the awarding ceremony, a total of 6 outstanding alumni entrepreneurial projects have entered into the contract for implementation with Gulou District, including data decision services system for digital medical care based on AI technology, R&D and application of environmentally friendly rust remover and anti-corrosion painting at normal temperature, Xiaobao Recycles: recyclable resources provider equivalent to S.F. Express in environmental protection, Touyan Bao: Zhigu Times, Baigu Wang (King of Valleys): the underlying engine of blockchain, and OpenCat. In addition, 4 promising items signed investment agreements with ADDOR Capital separately, including development and industrialization of OLED molecular building block, rainbow medic, the application of chemical telemetry in the field of emergency response and anti-terrorism, and Software as a Service (SaaS) of AI Operations (AIOps) by LinkSLA.

The first Nanjing University Lixing Cup global alumni innovation and entrepreneurship competition was made a success due to the interconnection of 7 contest regions throughout the world and the support of more than 100 alumni organizations inside and outside China. During the competition, the host combined with over 300 thousand alumni succeeded in winning the acknowledgement of more than 100 well-known venture capital institutions and the endorsement of local government and invited over 50 founders of listed companies and other famous entrepreneurs to be mentors of entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, a dozen of campaigns like policy propaganda activity for talents and innovation and entrepreneurship and exhibitions of outcome of innovation and entrepreneurship.
