Updates | Nanjing University launched first batch of Sino-US youth entrepreneurship exchange center
On December 25, the department of international cooperation and exchanges of Ministry of Education released its list of universities awarded the title of “Sino-US youth entrepreneurship exchange center”. Nanjing University is among the first batch of universities that have been selected. 18 universities and companies are on the list, including Beijing Normal University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University and two other enterprises.
The selection of the “Sino-US youth entrepreneurship exchange center” has been conducted by the department of international cooperation and exchanges of Ministry of Education. The initiative is a result of the consensus of China and US presidents, as well as the signing of China-US Social and Cultural Dialogue Communique . It is also consistent with central government’s call for mass innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to strengthen the exchanges of students from U.S. and China in innovation and entrepreneurship, to boost the reform in Chinese universities’ innovation and entrepreneurship education.
Based on the guidelines of the Notification of Applying for Sino-US Youth Entrepreneurship Exchange Center , Nanjing University’s department of international cooperation and exchanges, office of innovation and entrepreneurship, office of academic administration, faculty and education development center and school of arts went through and reviewed Nanjing University’s performance in international innovation and entrepreneurship including Sino-US collaboration. These departments spared great efforts in preparing application materials and designing work proposals. The expert panel at Ministry of Education reviewed the application materials and made the final decision. Nanjing University has been successfully selected into the first batch of Sino-US youth entrepreneurship exchange center.
In the future, Nanjing University will rely on its construction of a model base for China’s innovation and entrepreneurship, deepen its talent cultivation mechanism of coordinating with other universities, enterprises and local administrations, actively mobilize social resources and high-quality educational resources both from domestic and abroad, and further strengthen its collaboration with the U.S. and other partners across to world, to ensure the smooth implementation of the Sino-US youth entrepreneurship exchange center initiative. The center will aim to become an entrepreneurship incubator for students to realize their fancy ideas, a venue for the university and other companies to embark on innovation and entrepreneurship education and an engineering and training center open to students. The center also targets to become a pavilion for exchanges in innovation and entrepreneurship academia and sharing of the results, an incubator for innovation and entrepreneurship products, and an exchange platform for innovation and entrepreneurship education. In the future, the center will gradually develop cooperation programs on entrepreneurship mentors, course setting, international exchanges and operation models, to improve the communications among Chinese and U.S. entrepreneurs and transform the university into a promising land for innovation and entrepreneurship.
