2017 “Star Scientific Entrepreneur” Summer Camp Officially Launched at Nanjing University
On the morning of July 10, the “Star Scientific Entrepreneur” Summer Camp hosted by the Office of Innovative Entrepreneurship and Commercialization of Achievements, Nanjing University, launched an opening ceremony at the Mass Entrepreneurship Space at Xianlin Campus. Over 60 undergraduates and senior high school students from over 20 universities across the country attended the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, a documentary of Nanjing University was played to help attendees better understand the history of Nanjing University, as well as its efforts to build an innovative entrepreneurship education system. As a member of the first batch of model bases for innovation and entrepreneurship in 2016, Nanjing University incorporates innovative entrepreneurship education into its unique “three-stage, three-path” talent cultivation system. With the support from “Double First-Rate” initiative, Nanjing University will continue to promote the sustainable development of the base. The executive director of mass entrepreneurship space, Nanjing University, Ling Yuanyuan delivered keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He introduced the innovative entrepreneurship at Nanjing University, the 3D printing lab at the Mass Entrepreneurship Space, and the robot lab. He also expressed his good wishes that all the participants would graduate smoothly.
After the opening ceremony, lecturer Xu Hua from Nanjing University’s mental health education and research center conducted an on-spot educational activity. A variety of interesting ice-breaking interactive games brought students from different colleges great opportunities to understand and get familiar with each other, thus laying good foundations for future courses. All the students enjoyed the activities designed by Ms. Xu, and became closer with fellow classmates.
In addition, organizers of the summer camp arranged on-site teaching sessions at Nanjing University Exhibition Center and the National Electronics and Engineering Lab, enabling the students to fully embrace the enriched cultural sediment and innovative entrepreneurship atmosphere. This summer camp employed entrepreneurship platforms such as Nao Robot, Makeblock, and Willboox. It also combined lectures delivered by university scholars and corporate practitioners, group work, manual design, field visit and project road shows. It explored a mixed learning pattern which featured courses with expertise and practicality, and combined online and offline activities. The camp was designated to helping students practice developing a small idea to a big innovation, transforming creative thoughts to reality.
