Nanjing University hosted national seminar on improving theeducational capabilities of university faculties in innovation and entrpreneurship

On March 24 and 25, 2017, the national seminar on improving the educational capabilities of university faculties in innovation and entrpreneurship was held in the Mass Entreprenurship Space, Xianlin Campus. The conference was hosted by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Working Committee atJiangsu Higher Institute Education Management and Research Organization, and organized by the Global Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Center for Teaching and Learning. The deputy executive director of Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, director of Scientific Result Transformation Center, Gao Xinfang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Over 90 innovation and entrepreneurship education managers, faculty and researchers from more than 30 higher education institutes and companies attended. 


 

During the seminar, Gao Xinfang delivered a speech called Introduction to the Demonstration Base of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which elaborated Nanjing University’s efforts in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the university’s achievements on this front. Yu Xiaofeng from business school introduced entrepreneurship models under the title “Case Sharing  of Internet Entrerpreneurship Model”. The vice secretary of Youth League at Southeast University, Yang Wenxie shared with conference attendees the understanding and positioning of innovation and entrepreneurship in his speech “Southeast University’s Promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Experience Sharing”. The deputy chief of Nanjing University’s Academic Administration Office, Wang Dong introduced Nanjing University’s education work in innovation and enrepreneurship, in his featured speech “Exploration and practice of Nanjing University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship education”. Associate Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering,Wang Ziqiang, introduced how to design entrepreneurship courses and launch MOOC in his speech. 


 

The seminar consists of lectures, on-site training and Q&A sessions. It adopts a mixed learning pattern that combines professional and practical courses with online and offline activities, which aims to broaden teachers’ horizon and mindsets in innovation and entrepreneurship education, and help them acquire the tactics and methods. 


 

On the morning of Mar 25, seminar attendees visited Jiangsu Base, an innovation and entrepreneurship pilot project that is jointly developed by Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute and China Telecom. The visit helped them better understand how to develop market applications that are transformed from university scientific achievements through university-enterprise cooperation and production, study and research integration. They also caught a glimpse of the outstanding performance Jiangsu has achieved in innovation and entrepreneurship. 


 

On the afternoon of March 6, Intensive Innovation Project initiated by Yancheng Government held the opening ceremony of its featured workshop at Nanjing University. Entrusted by the organization department of Yancheng municipal party committee, and office of talents, Global Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship conducted a four-day training for county chieves in charge of scientific work throughout Yancheng, and almost 80 scientific professionals. The opening ceremonly was hosted by Qian Yan, the deputy deam of the global institute. Assistant to President of Nanjing University, Fan Conglai, and chief of office of talents from Yancheng municipal party committee, Cheng Hui delivered key note speeches. 

Mr. Fan suggested that the cooperation between Nanjing University and Yancheng dated way back and made great achievements. There were numerous collaboration among the university, government agencies and enterprises in Yancheng. He expressed his hope that all the participants would learn from teaching professors and fellow classmates, reap gains from the workshop and practice what have been taught. He also sincerely wished that Nanda would generously offer consultancy to Yancheng’s scientific innovation and industrial upgrading, and contribute more significantly to these development priorities.


 

Mr. Cheng expressed his best wishes to the workshop and its participants. He also put forward four expectations: firstly, all participants would value the opportunity and devote themselves to studying; secondly, they would combine the theories with practice and apply what they have learnt to reality; thirdly, all participants would communicate more often and improve themselves together; at last, all participants should comply with the rules and build up good images. 

It is indicated that this workshop would evolve around topics including policies on talents, scientific development and industry support, as well as political and economic situations, to improve scientific researchers’ theoretical levels and practical capabilities. The first lecture was delivered by Professor Fan Conglai, on macroeconomic situation and development priorities of the 13th Five Year Plan.
